I’m the official artist of the Santa Barbara Half Marathon!

Okay, deep breath. Screams into my son’s Minecraft beach towel. I’ve been officially chosen as the 2025 artist for the Santa Barbara Half Marathon, and I am absolutely STOKED out of my dad-jogging mind!

Now, I’m not just some doodle dude who hides behind a sketchpad… I’m a runner too! (Yes, I lace up the sneakers and hit the pavement, often powered by coffee, dad jokes, and the desperate hope my kids don’t find me mid-run and ask for snacks.)

So this honor? It hits deep. I get to design the actual race medal and shirt for an event I’ll be sweating through in November...and THEN I get to earn the very gear I created! How rad is that?! It’s like drawing your own comic book and then getting to jump inside and live it. DREAM MODE: ENGAGED!!

Let’s talk art. The star of this year’s design is a smiling, happy-go-lucky sun. He’s a little beacon of joy that captures the sunny vibes of Santa Barbara. This isn’t your average vitamin D dispenser either, this dude’s got personality. He’s got cheer. He’s basically a glowing high-five to every runner out there. 🌞✋

Because that’s what this race (and this town!) is all about: positive energy, beautiful views, and a community that lifts each other up. Whether you're sprinting like Sonic or slow-jogging with your playlist on shuffle, you’re part of something good. And I’m just honored to help make it look as fun and inspiring as it feels.

So if you're running the SB Half this year, keep your eyes out for my art... then cross that finish line like a rockstar and wear that medal with pride. Because I’ll be out there too, one foot in front of the other, grinning like a maniac, powered by sunbeams and that sweet, sweet runner’s high. LET’S GOOOO!!! ⚡🏁
